REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 13, 1985 <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. John Leszczynski, City Engineer, made <br />the presentation for the bill. He indicated this appropriation would be used for <br />engineering services for the Riverside Drive sewer. He indicated the construction of <br />this sewer has been ordered by the Health Department. Council Member Beck made a motion <br />to recommend this bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The <br />motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 36 -85 <br />A BILL APPROPRIATING $35,000.00 FROM THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND TO <br />PROJECT R &S 8501, JEFFERSON STREET AND EDDY STREET REALIGNMENT. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. John Leszczynski, City Engineer, made <br />the presentation for the bill. He indicated this appropriation would be used for <br />intersection realignment at Eddy and Jefferson. Council Member Beck made a motion to <br />recommend this bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Puzzello. The <br />motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 37 -85 <br />A BILL APPROPRIATING $400,000.00 FROM THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND <br />TO PROJECT R &S 8502 1985 RESURFACING PROJECT, WITHIN THE LOCAL ROAD <br />AND STREET FUND. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. John Leszczynski, City Engineer, made <br />the presentation for the bill. He indicated this appropriation would be used for the <br />cost of the resurfacing program for 1985. Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion to <br />recommend this bill to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The <br />motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 38 -85 <br />A BILL APPROPRIATING $110,000.00 FROM THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND <br />TO PROJECT R &S 8503 WIDENING AND RECONSTRUCTION OF TWYCKENHAM DRIVE <br />FROM MCKINLEY AVENUE TO SR 23 WITHIN SOUTH BEND, WITHIN THE LOCAL <br />ROAD AND STREET FUND. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. John Leszczynski, City Engineer, made <br />the presentation for the bill. He indicated this appropriation would be used for the <br />cost of the widening, reconstruction and possible signalization on Twyckenham from <br />McKinley to State Road 23. Andy Toth, 3505 Springbrook Drive, spoke in favor of this <br />bill. Council Member Beck made a motion to recommend this bill to the Council favorable, <br />seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 39 -85 <br />A BILL APPROPRIATING $150,000 FROM THE LOCAL ROAD AND STREET FUND TO <br />PROJECT R &S 8504, CONCRETE IMPROVEMENTS, WITHIN THE LOCAL ROAD AND <br />STREET FUND. <br />This being the time <br />opponents were given <br />the presentation for <br />cost of the concrete <br />bill to the Council <br />carried. <br />BILL NO. 40 -85 <br />heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />an opportunity to be heard. John Leszczynski, City Engineer, made <br />the bill. He indicated this appropriation would be used for the <br />improvements. Council Member Beck made a motion to recommend this <br />favorable, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL APPROPRIATING $25,000.00 FROM THE CUMULATIVE <br />SEWER BUILDING AND SINKING FUND TO PROJECT CS 828 INLET <br />RECONSTRUCTION, WITHIN THE CUMULATIVE SEWER BUILDING AND SINKING FUND. <br />This being the time heretofore set for public hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. John Leszczynski, City Engineer, made <br />the presentation for the bill. He indicated this appropriation would be used for the <br />cost of inlet reconstruction. Council Member Voorde made a motion to recommend this bill <br />to the Council favorable, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried. <br />There being no further business to come before the Committee of the Whole, Council Member <br />Beck made a motion to rise and report to the Council, and recess, seconded by Council <br />Member Crone. The motion carried., and the meeting was recessed at 8:30 p.m. <br />BILL NO. 13 -85 A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1117 W. <br />WESTERN AVE., IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. <br />Council Member Taylor made a motion to reconsider this bill, seconded by Council Member <br />Crone. The motion carried. Sam Mercantini indicated this bill was amended by <br />substitution to correct a technicality. Council Member Crone made a motion to accept the <br />amended bill on file with the City Clerk, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The <br />motion carried. Council Member Voorde made a motion to recommend this bill to the <br />Council favorable, as amended, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski.
