Illustrated Hanbook for Historic Commercial Buildings
50
Vegetation growth
North facade
Photo of the climbing vines on the north facade.
Feature: Exterior Wall (party wall)
Location: North facade
Level: Mild
Description: The north brick facade is almost entirely covered by climbing
vines. It appears to be healthy and well-established. It extends up the entire
height of the remaining structure, even reaching and partially covering the
tops of the crumbling walls and chimneys. The roots of the vines are visible
in the interior face of the wall.
Possible Causes: Humidity levels and appropiated conditions to growth.
