GENERAL NOTES
1.Pipe Bedding: Granular material shall be hand placed in loosely measured 4 inch layers to the spring line of the pipe.
Each layer shall be thoroughly tamped under and around the pipe, and when sufficient layers have been placed in this
manner to cover the pipe, the tamping shall proceed across the trench width, Hand, Pneumatic or mechanical tampers
may be used. The bedding material shall be moist but not wet, and it shall not include any stones larger than 2 inches
in any dimension. See "Pipe Bedding Typical Detail" for bedding material and compaction requirements.
2.Trench Backfill: Material shall be select native or B-Norrow free of debris, organic material and large stones.
Removable flowable fill shall be used for trenches within 5 feet of pavement and walks. See "Pipe Bedding Typical
Detail" for backfill placement and compaction requirements.Temporary Patch:
If it is not possible, due to weather conditions, for the contractor to replace the pavement within 24 hours following the
backfilling of cut, a coarse aggregate base 8" thick and a cold asphaltic surface of 4" shall be applied and maintained as
a temporary patch until permanent repairs can be made. When temperature falls below 50°F within 72 hour cure time,
concrete to be used shall be 7 bag w/ 2% accelerator. Such temporary patches shall be replaced with permanent
repairs no later than May 1 of the following year.
3.All utilities must be located prior to making pavement cut.
BRICK PAVER PREPARATION:
1.Remove organic, unstable or unconsolidated material from site. Verify conformance of subgrade preparation, compacted
density and elevations to specified requirements.
2.Clean and re-use existing street brick pavers removed during site demolition. Remaining pavers not used will be
