INTER-OFFICE MEMORANDUM <br /> DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br /> DIVISION OF ENGINEERING <br />TO: Members of the Board of Public Works <br />Michael Schmidt, Assistant City Attorney Public Works <br />Theresa Heffner, Clerk of the Board of Public Works <br />FROM: Becca Plantz, PE, Assistant City Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Ratify Emergency Work <br />Emergency Sewer and Lift Station Repair at Edison Road <br />DATE: June 2, 2025 <br />The Division of Engineering, Division of Wastewater, and Division of Streets & Sewers requests <br />the Board of Public Works approval and ratification of an emergency purchase order contract with <br />GE Marshall, Inc. for sanitary sewer pipe replacement. <br />This emergency work was identified by the Division of Wastewater when the lift station <br />experienced operational issues that required immediate intervention to restore service and ensure <br />continued wastewater conveyance. The pumps and wet well were found to be accumulating sand <br />and debris, indicating a potential break in the upstream section. A break was found in the top of <br />the upstream gravity sewer connecting the northern section to the lift station after bypassing the <br />lift station and clearing sand. <br />GE Marshall was contracted on a time and materials basis for the emergency repair work after <br />contacting additional contractors about availability. Excavation of the pipe segment included the <br />full width of the road, dewatering, and continuous bypass operations to expose the break and <br />replace the pipe. Additional break down of work completed by GE Marshall is attached. <br />Total Emergency Repair Cost from GE Marshall: $95,323.04 <br />Emergency Purchase Order PO-35035 was paid through Sewage Works Operations. <br />Please call with your questions 5998. <br />June 10, 2025
