15 <br />ANNUAL REPORT 2024 <br />SOUTH BEND ANIMAL RESOURCE CENTER (SBARC) / <br />ANIMAL WELFARE <br />The South Bend Animal Resource Center (SBARC) houses the staff of Animal Welfare <br />Offi cers and Assistants who serve the community by enforcing the animal control <br />ordinance and off ering supporƟ ve animal services to animal owners in the community. <br />In 2024, 378 animals were adopted from SBARC. <br />SBARC parƟ cipated in The Bissell FoundaƟ on’s “Empty the Shelter” event four Ɵ mes. During these <br />events, 45 animals were adopted. Due to the success of the events, Bissell awarded SBARC $2,510 of <br />grant funds towards the shelter and its animals. <br />SBARC also hosted on site or parƟ cipated in other adopƟ on events through the city or surrounding <br />areas such as: Crooked Ewe Pet Food Drive, Waggin in the Woods, The Lauber PaƟ o Pups, Drool at the <br />Pool at Kennedy Water Park, South Bend Police Department’s Night Out, Dog Days of Summer, The <br />Saint Patrick’s Day Parade, Halloween Event of Cops and Goblins, Fundraisers at Taphouse on the edge <br />and Texas Road House, partnership with Pigeon and Hen PoƩ ery for mulƟ ple cat adopƟ on events. <br />Through these events SBARC raised an addiƟ onal $4,925.25 for the animals and shelter. <br />AdopƟ ons <br />NEIGHBORHOODS DIVISION <br />Drool at the Pool at Kennedy Water Park. This event is held at the end of <br />every summer season to let the commmunity dogs cool off and enjoy a <br />fi nal summer night.
