10 <br />DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY INVESTMENT <br />NEIGHBORHOOD HEALTH & HOUSING (NHH) <br />Quality Aff ordable Housing & Infi ll Development <br />• ConƟ nued implementaƟ on of the Home Repair Program. There were 76 households that received <br />eligible repairs totaling over $1,000,000 of investment. <br />• ConƟ nued partnerships with aff ordable housing developers to support the construc Ɵ on and sale of new <br />housing units in South Bend’surban neighborhoods. <br />• In a diffi cult housing market, fi ve (5) Community Homebuyers CorporaƟ on (CHC) closings provided <br />$160,500 in forgivable second mortgages and down payment assistance and leveraged $525,700 of <br />private investment through the CHC fi nancial partners. <br />• Through 2024, a total of 18 pre-approved plan homes were built or permi Ʃ ed, with 95 new units in the <br />planning and/or pre-construcƟ on phase. <br />Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) <br />CerƟ fi ed Housing Counseling <br />• 46 households completed pre-purchase housing counseling, preparing themselves to become poten Ɵ al <br />homeowners. <br />• 2 households were assisted with mortgage default counseling. <br />• 1 household completed non-delinquency post purchase counseling for fi nancial management. <br />• The Housing Counselor provided 8 post-purchase counseling sessions with a total of 23 a Ʃ endees in <br />2024. <br />NEIGHBORHOODS DIVISION <br />The pre-approved narrow house plans were used to construct two new homes in the <br />Near Northwest neighborhood. The available pre-approved plans support infi ll develop- <br />ment in the city’s urban neighborhoods. <br />NHH programs and services facilitate the development of quality aff ordable housing through assistance <br />to eligible homeowners, fi rst-Ɵ me homebuyers, tenants, landlords, nonprofi t partners, developers, and <br />builders.
