East Res. <br />* Funds are subject to the City Controller's determination of availability; if funds are unavailable, as solely determined by the City Controller, then the <br />authorization of the expenditure of such funds shall be void and of no effect. <br /> <br />PURPOSE OF REQUEST: Approval a budget request for the design specifications of the Portage Elwood Shopping <br />Center Demolition <br /> <br />SPECIFICS: On December 10, 2024 the Redevelopment Commission closed on the property known as the Portage <br />Elwood Shopping Center located at 1302 Elwood Avenue. The site is approximately 8.6 acres of land and on site <br />is shopping center dating to the 1960s. The shopping center in its current configuration is not suitable for <br />redevelopment or configured well for complementing the former Drewrys site which the City also owns and is in <br />the process of preparing for redevelopment. <br /> <br />This Budget Request for $115,000 would be pay for the design specifications and services of the demolition of <br />the shopping center. This would include demolition of all existing structures, pavement, and until underground <br />utilities.
