The compromise proposed does not in any way address the concerns of the Public <br />Works Department. A vehicle using the alley would still not be able to make a turn <br />to the north. <br />Also, I must question the petitioners ability to guarantee that the vacated alley <br />would always remain free of obstacles, etc. <br />I hope this answers your questions. He stated that the <br />South Bend Fire Department requires proper fire lanes for firefighting purposes. <br />The vacation of the alley between Ironwood and 21st Street, just south of Mishawaka <br />Avenue would not be faovrable to the Fire Department in event of a fire at the <br />house which is located on the south east portion of the alley intersection. He <br />requested that the Council not grant the all vacation regardless of the <br />compromise.. Council Member Zakrzewski made motion to send this bill to the <br />Council unfavorable, seconded by Council Member Puzzello.
