WHEREAS, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana recognizes that <br />ROBERT G. TAYLOR has diligently and enthusiastically served the citizens of the <br />Fifth District since 1972; and <br />WHEREAS, during the sixteen (16) years COUNCILMAN TAYLOR has earned the <br />reputation of being a hard - working district councilman who welcomes new challenges; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council recognizes with pride some of COUNCILMAN TAYLOR'S <br />many contributions such as: being Chairman of the Public Safety Committee for many <br />years; serving as Vice - President of the Council; being past Chairman of the Human <br />Resources and Economic Development Committee; supporting the development of a <br />revitalized downtown; supporting the building of the Century Center and the Stanley <br />Coveleski Regional Stadium; working for a professionalized police merit program; <br />resolving the Ireland landfill problems; working for the funding of a Community <br />Oriented Policy Program; and improving the auto and pedestrian traffic facilities in <br />the Miami Village Shopping District; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council will remember COUNCILMAN TAYLOR constantly working <br />to attain full city services for southeast suburbs and working to gain the needed <br />zoning changes for attractive and valuable residential development in the Fifth <br />District; and <br />WHEREAS, the Common Council will long remember COUNCILMAN TAYLOR also known as <br />"Mr. Republican" as a dedicated public servant who provided vision and fostered a <br />bright future for our City. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana as follows: <br />SECTION I. On behalf of all of the citizens of south Bend, Indiana, the Common <br />Council hereby publicly commends and thanks COUNCILMAN ROBERT G. TAYLOR for his <br />sixteen (16) years of dedicated service as a Fifth District Councilman. <br />SECTION II. The Common Council publicly acknowledges COUNCILMAN TAYLOR'S many <br />contributions to help improve the quality of life in South Bend, Indiana, and wishes <br />Bob and his wife, Una Fay, and their three (3) newborn triplet grandchildren <br />(currently learning to be a Democrat, a Republican and and Independent!) continued <br />good fortune in the years ahead. <br />SECTION III. PARENT <br />Mayor <br />A public hearing was held on the resolution at this time. Council Member Puzzello <br />read the resolution and presented it to Council Member Taylor. Council Member <br />Voorde made a motion to adopt this resolution by acclamation, seconded by Council <br />Member Zakrzewski.
