That the Common Council hereby accepts the report and <br />recommendation of the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee that the <br />area herein described be designated an Economic Revitalization Area and hereby <br />adopts a resolution designating this area as an Economic Revitalization Area for <br />purposes of real property tax abatement. <br />SECTION V. That the designation as an Economic Revitalization Area shall be <br />limited to two (2) calendar years from the date of the adoption of this resolution <br />by the Common Council. <br />SECTION VI. That the Common Council hereby determines that the property owner <br />is qualified for and is granted property tax deduction for a period of three years. <br />SECTION VII. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after <br />its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />/s/Joseph T. Council Member Voorde <br />made a motion to amend the resolution in Section 2, (a) by inserting 15.0781; (b) <br />insert 15.0767; (c) insert 15.0775, seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski. The <br />motion carried. Karl Witt, a representative of Indiana - Michigan Vales, Inc., <br />indicated they planned to construct a warehouse and sales office in the Airport <br />Industrial Park. He indicated the facility is to be used as a distribution point. <br />He indicated this was the second expansion into the State of Indiana. He indicated <br />they will hie two to three new employees the first year, and four to six <br />thereafter. Council Member Voorde made a motion to adopt this resolution, seconded <br />by Council Member Zakrzewski. The motion carried. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1549 -87 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND COMMONLY KNOWN AS 402 -404 EAST SOUTH AN ECONOMIC <br />REVITALIZATION AREA FOR PURPOSES OF REAL PROPERTY TAX <br />ABATEMENT. <br />WHEREAS, a petition for real property tax abatement consideration has been filed <br />with the Common Council of the City of South Bend, requesting that the area commonly <br />known as 402 -404 East South, South Bend, Indiana, and which is more particularly <br />described as follows: <br />A parcel of land being a part of Lots One (1), Two (2) and Three (3) in the <br />City's subdivision of the east half (1/2) of Lot Twenty -Three (23) in Denniston <br />and Fellows Addition, South Bend, Indiana and being more particularly described <br />as follows: <br />Beginning at the Southwest corner of said lot one (1) thence north 0 09'37" <br />west along the west line of said lot one (1) a measured distance of 99.28 feet <br />to a point of 16.5 feet south of the northwest corner of said lot one (1); <br />thence south 890 49' 40" east, a measured distance of 90.70 feet; thence south <br />00 03103" east, a measured distance of 99.28 feet to the north line of a 14' <br />foot alley; thence north 890 49146" west along the said north line a measured <br />distance of 90.52 feet to the place of beginning. <br />be designated as an Economic Revitalization Area under the provisions of Indiana <br />Code 6 -1.1- 12.1 -1, et seq. and South Bend Municipal Code section 2 -76; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Economic Development has concluded an investigation <br />and prepared a report with information sufficient for the Common Council to <br />determine that the area qualifies as an Economic Revitalization area under the <br />Indiana Code 6 -1.1- 12.1 -1, et seq. and South Bend Municipal Code Section 2 -76, and <br />has further prepared maps and plats showing the boundaries and such other <br />information regarding the area in question as required by law; and <br />WHEREAS, the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee of the Common <br />Council has reviewed said report and recommended to the Common Council that the area <br />qualifies as an Economic Revitalization Area. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council of the City of South Bend, <br />Indiana, as follows: <br />SECTION I. That the Common Council hereby determines and finds that the <br />estimate of the number of individuals that will be employed or whose employment will <br />be retained and the estimate of value of the redevelopment or rehabilitation and any <br />other benefits about which the body designating the economic revitalization area <br />requires information are benefits that can be reasonably expected to result from the <br />proposed described redevelopment or rehabilitation. <br />SECTION II. That the Common Council hereby determines and finds the following: <br />
