That the Common Council hereby accepts the report and recommendation <br />of the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee that the area herein <br />described be designated an Economic Revitalization Area and hereby adopts a <br />resolution designating this area as an Economic Revitalization Area for purposes of <br />personal property tax abatement. <br />SECTION II. That this designation shall be limited to five (5) calendar years <br />from the date of the adoption of this resolution by the Common Council. <br />SECTION III. That the Common Council directs the City Clerk to cause notice of <br />the adoption of this resolution to be published, said publication providing notice <br />of the public hearing before the Common Council on said declaration. <br />SECTION IV. This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after <br />its adoption by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />/s/ Joseph T. Council Member Taylor <br />made a motion to accept substitute Resolution No. 67 -87 on file with the City Clerk, <br />seconded by Council Member Beck. The motion carried. Ernest Szarwark, attorney, <br />indicated Allied Products is a diversified corporation which owns two divisions in <br />South Bend, South Bend Stamping Division and White Farm. He indicated these <br />abatements are for the White Farm, or New Idea Division, which is located at 701 <br />South Chapin He indicated they plan to upgrade the sprinkler system, install new <br />convayors, overhaul the elevator, and do other miscellaneous building revamping. He <br />indicated they also planned to purchase numerous pieces of factory machinery. He <br />indicated this project will save approximately fifty jobs . Council Member Taylor <br />made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 1525 -87, seconded by Council Member Barcome. <br />The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes. The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1527 -87 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH <br />BEND DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE CITY COMMONLY <br />KNOWN AS 220 WEST ECKMAN STREET AN ECONOMIC <br />REVITALIZATION AREA FOR PURPOSES OF PERSONAL PROPERTY <br />TAX ABATEMENT. <br />
