Serge Member of the Common Council A public hearing was held on the resolutions at this time. Eric Petersen, Chairman of the Board of Petersen Printing, indicated his company was experiencing the need for larger operating facilities, as well as newer technological equipment. He indicated their professional personnel, traditional commitment to superior quality and flexible techniques has enable them to prosper and grow. He indicated their growth can only be made through continued capital improvements. Council Member Voorde made a motion to adopt, Resolution No. 1479 -87, seconded by Council Member Barcome. The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes. Council Member Zakrzewski made a motion to adopt Resolution No. 1480 -87, seconded by Council Member Paszek. The resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of nine ayes. BILL NO. 87 -17 A RESOLUTION RELATIVE TO THE MODIFICATION OF THE BOUNDARY OF THE ENTERPRISE ZONE IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA. Council Member Beck made a motion to strike this resolution, seconded by Council Member Taylor. The motion carried. BILL NO. 87 -17 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND DESIGNATING CERTAIN AREAS WITHIN THE CITY COMMONLY KNOWN AS 329 - 331 -333 S. MICHIGAN STREET AN ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION AREAS FOR PURPOSES OF REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT. Council Member Puzzello made a motion to continue public hearing until March 23, seconded by Council Member Barcome. The motion carried. RESOLUTION NO. 1481 -87 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, RECONFIRMING THE PERIOD OF DEDUCTIONS APPROVED FOR THE DESIGNATIONS OF CERTAIN PROPERTIES PREVIOUSLY QUALIFYING AS ECONOMIC REVITALIZATION AREAS FOR PURPOSES OF PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT WHEREAS, pursuant to I.C., 6 -1.1- 12.1 -1 et seg, and local ordinance regulations, the Common Council has reviewed various petitions requesting personal and /or real property tax abatement; and WHEREAS, proper notice with regard to the necessary Declaratory Resolutions and Confirming Resolutions as well as reports from the Department of Economic Development and the Human Resources and Economic Development Committee have been completed pursuant to applicable provisions of Sections 2 -76 through 2 -79 of the Municipal Code of the City of South Bend; and WHEREAS, discussions have taken place between the City of South Bend and the Auditor's Office of St. Joseph County whereby it was agreed that a reconfirming resolution should be appropriate in order to clarify the periods of deductions previously authorized for certain property tax abatements. WHEREAS, the following resolution carries out that objective. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Common Council if the City of South Bend, Indiana, as follows: SECTION I. The Common Council hereby reconfirms the following areas previously designated as Economic Revitalization Areas for purposes of real and /or personal property tax abatement and reconfirms the periods of time authorized for deductions: (1) a. Council Resolution No. 1156 -84 adopted 6 -11 -84 d. Type of Abatement: Real e. Deductions authorized for ten (10) calendar years. (3) a. Owner: Crowe, Chizek and Company b. Property Address: 330 E. Jefferson South Bend, IN 46601 c. Council Resolution No. 1197 -84 adopted 9 -10 -84 d. Type of Abatement: Real e. Deductions authorized for ten (10) calendar years.
