The deduction <br />removes the backfilling operation from this demolition contract. The scope of work called for the <br />basement areas to be backfilled up to surrounding grades. However, the City recently awarded <br />a bid to Indiana Earth for construction of a new parking lot (123-076A Beacon Health Parking <br />Lot) and Indiana Earth expressed desire to perform the backfilling operations in the interest of <br />guaranteeing quality work for the new parking lot. <br />Indiana Earth is a local firm who specializes in earthwork and is better suited to take advantage <br />of any breaks in the winter weather where work can be performed. The parking lot contract has <br />an aggressive schedule, needing to be complete by the July 4t" holiday. This parking lot must <br />come online before the City can begin their Madison Lifestyle District project with Great Lakes <br />Capital at the existing parking lot south of the MarMain Apartments. <br />A separate change order for this same amount will be executed with Indiana Earth after they <br />receive Notice to Proceed and mobilize to the site to begin work. <br />The next page shows the new parking lot. <br />Page 1 of 1 <br />
