Chair Tomas Morgan noted the trail's safety for students, and O'Brien mentioned new lighting <br /> features for visibility. <br /> Indiana University South Bend Overview <br /> Rob DeCleene, Vice Chancellor for University Relations at Indiana University South Bend <br /> (IUSB), shared recent highlights. IUSB hosted the UEDA 2024 Summit from October 7-9, 2024, <br /> drawing nearly two hundred (200) attendees, and celebrated the inaugural class at the Ernestine <br /> M. Raclin School of Arts on October 15, 2024, followed by an athletics Hall of Fame event on <br /> October 19,2024. The Bruce Family Legacy Award was established to honor women's basketball <br /> coach Steve Bruce. <br /> The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship will break ground in November at the former <br /> bookstore site. DeCleene announced the retirement of the current Chancellor will be at the end of <br /> 2024,with a new chancellor to be appointed. He thanked Dr. Elizabeth Bennion for her work with <br /> the American Democracy Project and the school board candidate forum. <br /> Chair Tomas Morgan acknowledged Dr. Bennion's contributions. <br /> Pam Claeys asked about the chancellor selection timeline. <br /> Rob DeCleene mentioned that campus visits are planned but scheduling details are pending. <br /> Gwen O'Brien expressed gratitude for IUSB's community events. <br /> Rob DeCleene thanked Notre Dame for its involvement. <br /> Chloe Garner,President of the IUSB Student Government Association, announced that the student <br /> government will collaborate with the American Democracy Project (ADP). The philanthropy <br /> committee is organizing a tie blanket donation drive for St. Margaret's House. Additionally, they <br /> have partnered with the alumni office to promote the alumni food drive. <br /> Chair Tomas Morgan asked Chloe Garner if she believes student involvement in this year's <br /> election is greater than in previous years. <br /> Chloe Garner noted that recent events have been well attended, and she's excited to see students <br /> heading to the polls, reflecting a noticeable enthusiasm for the election. <br /> Chair Tomas Morgan emphasized the crucial role of student governments and the American <br /> Democracy Project in boosting voter turnout. <br /> Rob DeCleene added that IUSB will host a U.S. debate watch on October 29, 2024, along with <br /> watch parties for all debates. He mentioned an event called "Party to the Polls," which will help <br /> transport students to the voting locations. <br /> Chloe Garner announced that there will be a luncheon the day after the election to discuss the <br /> election results, which will be facilitated and moderated for open dialogue. <br /> Chair Tomas Morgan mentioned that the Cops and Goblins event is currently happening at the <br /> Century Center that might be why the public safety representatives might not be here. <br /> Public Safety Officials Overview <br /> Fire Chief Carl Buchanon, 1222 South Michigan Street, South Bend IN 46601, congFatulated <br /> IUSB for fostering a space for dialogue among campuses. He also encouraged universities to reach <br /> out if they need public education officers, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring that students <br /> feel safe in the community.
