REGULAR MEETING <br />MAY 12, 1997 <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Coleman made a <br />motion to refer this bill to Area Plan, seconded by Council <br />Member Hosinski. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 42 -97 A BILL OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, ESTABLISHING A <br />CUMULATIVE CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT FUND <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Pfeifer made a <br />motion to refer this bill to the Personnel and Finance Committee <br />and set it for public hearing and third reading on May 27, <br />seconded by Broden. The motion carried. <br />BILL NO. 43 -97 A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR <br />PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1881 NORTH IRONWOOD ROAD, <br />IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />This bill had first reading. Council Member Coleman made a <br />motion to refer this bill to Area Plan, seconded by Council <br />Member Hosinski. The motion carried. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Council Member Broden announced there would be a neighborhood <br />meeting regarding the rezoning of St. Michael's church at <br />Jefferson and Ironwood this Wednesday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m. <br />PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR <br />Mike Urbanski, Garden Homes, indicated that several contractors <br />are committed to building home in the City and unless the <br />property owner gets a tax abatement the taxes on a $65,000 are <br />approximately $2,305. He indicated the average person building <br />in the inner -city cannot afford the taxes. <br />Jim Cierzniak, 1156 E. Victoria, spoke regarding the new building <br />downtown. He congratulated the Redevelopment staff. He <br />questioned why there has not been more publicity regarding this <br />project. <br />Pat Bryan, 515 E. Monroe, indicated she decided to come to the <br />County -City Building in her motorized wheelchair from Karl King <br />Towers and in many areas there were no curb ramps. <br />There being no further business to come before the Council <br />unfinished or new, Council Member Kelly adjourned the meeting at <br />8:40 p.m. <br />ATTEST: <br />6ity rk <br />ATTEST: <br />President <br />
