REGULAR MEETING MAY 12, 1997 This bill had first reading. Council Member Coleman made a motion to refer this bill to Area Plan, seconded by Council Member Hosinski. The motion carried. BILL NO. 42 -97 A BILL OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, ESTABLISHING A CUMULATIVE CAPITAL DEVELOPMENT FUND This bill had first reading. Council Member Pfeifer made a motion to refer this bill to the Personnel and Finance Committee and set it for public hearing and third reading on May 27, seconded by Broden. The motion carried. BILL NO. 43 -97 A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 1881 NORTH IRONWOOD ROAD, IN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA This bill had first reading. Council Member Coleman made a motion to refer this bill to Area Plan, seconded by Council Member Hosinski. The motion carried. NEW BUSINESS Council Member Broden announced there would be a neighborhood meeting regarding the rezoning of St. Michael's church at Jefferson and Ironwood this Wednesday, May 14, at 7:00 p.m. PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR Mike Urbanski, Garden Homes, indicated that several contractors are committed to building home in the City and unless the property owner gets a tax abatement the taxes on a $65,000 are approximately $2,305. He indicated the average person building in the inner -city cannot afford the taxes. Jim Cierzniak, 1156 E. Victoria, spoke regarding the new building downtown. He congratulated the Redevelopment staff. He questioned why there has not been more publicity regarding this project. Pat Bryan, 515 E. Monroe, indicated she decided to come to the County -City Building in her motorized wheelchair from Karl King Towers and in many areas there were no curb ramps.
