REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 22, 1999 BILL NO. 98 -99 A BILL APPROPRIATING $127,000 RECEIVED FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT'S EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANT PROGRAM Councilmember Kelly reported that the Community & Economic Development Committee met on this bill and sends it to the Council with a favorable recommendation. Ms. Elizabeth Leonard, Director, Financial and Program Management, Community & Economic Development, 1200 County -City Building, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this bill. Ms. Leonard advised the Council that this bill appropriates funds for the Emergency Shelter Grant Program and again is part of the 2000 Housing and Community Development Plan that was approved. This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this bill, Councilmember Kelly made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council concerning this bill. Council President Coleman seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. BILL NO. 99 -99 A BILL APPROPRIATING $541,060 WITHIN FUND 212 FOR THE PURPOSE OF DEFRAYING THE ADMINISTRATIVE COSTS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Councilmember Kelly reported that the Community & Economic Development Committee met on this bill and sends it to the Council with a favorable recommendation. Ms. Elizabeth Leonard, Director, Financial and Program Management, Community & Economic Development, 1200 County -City Building, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this bill. Ms. Leonard indicated that this bill appropriates the dollars that the Department expects to receive acting as staff throughout the year 2000. This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this bill, Council President Coleman made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council concerning this bill. Councilmember King seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. BILL NO. 100 -99 A BILL APPROPRIATING $81,964 FROM THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT STATE GRANT FUND FOR THE PURPOSE OF ASSISTING IN THE SUPPORT OF THE DIVISION OF BUSINESS ASSISTANCE'S ADMINISTRATIVE BUDGET Councilmember Kelly reported that the Community & Economic Development Committee met on this bill and sends it to the Council with a favorable recommendation.
