REGULAR MEETING NOVEMBER 12, 2001 <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />Mr. Gary Gilot, Public Works Director, 1300 Floor County -City Building, South Bend, Indiana, <br />stated that he wanted to confirm that the Board of Public Works sent this petition with some issues <br />to be resolved and those have been satisfactorily addressed by the petitioner subject to utility <br />easements and subject to dedication of an additional eight foot (8') by ten foot (10') turnaround space <br />for a pilot jug handle turn. He stated that the Council is making history with the first jug handle turn <br />in an alley. <br />There was no one else present wishing to speak in favor of this vacation and there was no one <br />present wishing to speak in opposition to this bill. <br />Therefore, Councilmember King made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council <br />concerning this bill as substituted on October 22, 2001. Councilmember Kelly seconded the motion <br />which carried by a voice vote of nine (9) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 101 -01 PUBLIC HEARING ON A BILL APPROPRIATING <br />$126,081 RECEIVED FROM THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF <br />HOUSING AND URBAN DEVELOPMENT'S <br />EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANT PROGRAM <br />Councilmember Kelly reported that the Community and Economic Development Committee met <br />on this bill and recommends it to the Council favorably. <br />Ms. Beth Leonard, Director, Financial and Program Management, Community & Economic <br />Development, 1200 County -City Building, South Bend, Indiana, made the presentation for this bill. <br />Ms. Leonard advised that this bill appropriates the 2002 dollars for the Emergency Shelter Grant <br />Program that allows them to fund emergency shelters such as Youth Service Bureau, Center for the <br />Homeless, AIDS Task Force and the YWCA Crisis Shelter. <br />This being the time heretofore set for the Public Hearing on the above bill, proponents and <br />opponents were given an opportunity to be heard. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this <br />bill, Councilmember Kelly made a motion for favorable recommendation to full Council concerning <br />this bill.
