REGULAR MEETING <br />SEPTEMBER 9, 2002 <br />This bill had first reading. Councilmember Pfeifer made a motion to refer this bill to the Area Plan <br />Commission. Councilmember Coleman seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of seven <br />(7) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 73 -02 FIRST READING ON A BILL AMENDING THE ZONING <br />ORDINANCE FOR PROPERTY LOCATED AT 630 EAST <br />COLFAX, SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />This bill had first reading. Councilmember Coleman made a motion to refer this bill to the Area <br />Plan Commission. Councilmember Pfeifer seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of <br />seven (7) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 74 -02 FIRST READING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA <br />APPROPRIATING $348,654 WITHIN FUND 212 FOR THE <br />PURPOSE OF ADMINISTERING THE AMERICORPS <br />PROGRAM <br />This bill had first reading. Councilmember Aranowski made a motion to refer this bill to the <br />Personnel and Finance Committee and set it for Public Hearing and Third Reading on September <br />23, 2002. Councilmember Coleman seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of seven (7) <br />ayes. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />There was no unfinished business to come before the Council at this time. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />There was no new business to come before the Council at this time. <br />PRIVILEGE OF THE FLOOR <br />REOUEST FOR CITY WIDE BASKETBALL FACILITY - JOHN SWANSON <br />Mr. John Swanson, 1321 West Washington Street, South Bend, Indiana, informed the <br />Council that he wanted to again say that he believes the City needs a basketball center that <br />people from all areas of town could congregate at and he will be saying that for the next <br />twenty (20) years. Council President Kelly thanked Mr. Swanson for coming before the <br />Council again on this issue. Councilmember Pfeifer suggested that Mr. Swanson contact <br />Dr. Joan Raymond of the South Bend Community School Corporation to find out if a gym <br />in one of the corporation schools could be made available for this purpose. Mr. Swanson <br />stated that he will take that suggestion under advisement. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />There being no further business to come before the Council, President Kelly adjourned the meeting <br />at 8:30 p.m. <br />ATTEST: <br />Lorett J.
