REGULAR MEETING FEBRUARY 25, 2002 <br />SECTION VIII. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption <br />by the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br />s /Roland Kelly <br />Member of the Common Council <br />Councilmember King reported that the Community and Economic Development Committee met <br />on this bill and recommends this Resolution to the Council favorably. <br />Mr. Shawn Virk, Vice President of Virk Mart, Inc., 3417 Western Avenue, South Bend, Indiana, <br />made the presentation for this Resolution. <br />Mr. Virk stated that he plans to spend one hundred fifty- thousand ($150,000.00) dollars to replace <br />and build a brand -new store and replace gasoline pumps as well as new blacktop and whatever else <br />needs to be done. <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to this <br />Resolution, Councilmember White made a motion to adopt this Resolution. Councilmember <br />Coleman seconded the motion which carried and the Resolution was adopted by a roll call vote of <br />eight (8) ayes. <br />BILL NO. 02-13 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SOUTH BEND DESIGNATING CERTAIN <br />AREAS WITHIN THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, <br />INDIANA, COMMONLY KNOWN AS 4374 FOXFIRE <br />DRIVE, 4131 GREENGLADE COURT AND 4308 CROSS <br />CREEK DRIVE AS A RESIDENTIALLY DISTRESSED <br />AREA FOR PURPOSES OF A FIVE (5) YEAR <br />RESIDENTIAL REAL PROPERTY TAX ABATEMENT <br />FOR GARDEN HOMES BY E.L., INC. <br />Councilmember King reported that the Community and Economic Development Committee met <br />on this bill and recommends this Resolution to the Council favorably. <br />Due to the lack of a presenter at this time, Councilmember Coleman made a motion that this matter <br />be tabled until later in the meeting in the hope that the presenter may arrive prior to the close of the <br />Council's business. Councilmember King seconded the motion which carried by a voice vote of <br />eight (8) ayes. <br />BILLS - FIRST READING <br />BILL NO. 14 -02 FIRST READING ON A BILL OF THE COMMON <br />COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br />ADOPTING THE ST. JOSEPH COUNTY HEALTH <br />DEPARTMENT WELLHEAD PROTECTION <br />ORDINANCE #103 -98, AS AMENDED <br />This bill had first reading. Councilmember Pfeifer made a motion to refer this bill to the Health and <br />Public Safety Committee and the Utilities Committee and set it for Public Hearing and Third <br />Reading on March 11, 2002.
