REGULAR MEETING MARCH 11, 2013 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />SECTION IV. The Common Council determines that such designation is for personal property <br />tax abatement only and shall be limited to two (2) calendar years from the date of the adoption of <br />this Resolution by the Common Council. <br /> <br />SECTION V. The Common Council hereby determines that the property owner is qualified for <br />and is granted property tax deduction for a period of (5) five years. <br /> <br />SECTION VI. The Common Council directs the City Clerk to cause notice of the adoption of <br />this Declaratory Resolution for Personal Property Tax Abatement to be published pursuant to <br />Indiana Code 5-3-1, said publication providing notice of the public hearing before the Common <br />Council on the proposed confirming of said declaration. <br /> <br />SECTION VII. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption by <br />the Common Council and approval by the Mayor. <br /> <br /> s/Derek D. Dieter <br /> Member of the Common Council <br /> <br /> <br />Councilmember Gavin Ferlic, Chairperson, Community Investment Committee, reported that <br />this committee held a Public Hearing on this bill this afternoon and voted to send it to the full <br />Council with a favorable recommendation. <br /> <br />Kevin Kruggel, Kruggel & Lawton CPA, 210 S. Michigan Street, Suite 200, South Bend, <br />Indiana, made the presentation for this bill. <br /> <br />Mr. Kruggel advised that the proposed project is the purchase and installation of new equipment <br />to increase their production capacity to meet the growing demands of their customers. He stated <br />that the total project cost is estimated at $1,730,000. He stated that total taxes to be abated during <br />the abatement period are estimated at $17,079. He stated that per the petition, it is estimated that <br />the total project will create 9 permanent, full-time jobs, representing a new annual payroll of <br />$389,673 and maintain 112 existing permanent full-time jobs representing an annual payroll of <br />$4,850,000. <br /> <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br /> <br />There being no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to <br />this Resolution, Councilmember Oliver J. Davis made a motion to adopt this Resolution. <br />Councilmember Scott seconded the motion which carried and the Resolution was adopted by a <br />roll call vote of nine (9) ayes. <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4245-13 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF <br /> <br /> THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, CALLING <br /> FOR AN END TO DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND <br /> VOICING ITS SUPPORT TO THE <br /> REAUTHORIZATION OF THE FEDERAL “VIOLENCE <br /> AGAINST WOMEN’S ACT” <br /> <br /> <br />Whereas, the Common Council of the City of South Bend, Indiana, acknowledges that <br />recently a bi-partisan majority of the House of Representatives joined the United States Senate in <br />approving reauthorization of the “Violence Against Women’s Act” and sent it to the President <br />for review and approval; and <br /> Whereas, the Common Council notes that unfortunately, domestic violence affects all <br />communities, with data showing that three (3) women die each day from domestic violence <br />which clearly shows that perpetrators of such violence should be brought to justice; and <br />12 <br /> <br /> <br />
