CITY OF SOUTH BEND OFFICE OF THE CLERK <br /> Committee Chair Niezgodski moved onto Bill No. 59-23, to which Kyle Willis, City <br /> Controller, was also the presenter. Mr. Willis stated the $500,000 appropriation for Venues <br /> Parks and Arts downtown South Bend was for expenses incurred in 2022 but are being paid <br /> for in 2023. Mr. Willis indicated the $700,000 appropriation for the Police Department was <br /> due to an increase in officers from 238 to 249 officers. Mr. Willis also stated there was an <br /> appropriation of $293,000 in grants for the storm sewer. There was discussion of further <br /> allocations in the plan. Mr. Willis concluded his statements, and the Committee reconvened <br /> for any questions. There were no members of the public expressing interest to speak during <br /> this portion nor the public hearing portion. <br /> Committee member Tomas Morgan made a motion to send Bill No. 58-23 to the Committee <br /> of the Whole with a favorable recommendation which was seconded by Committee member <br /> Davis. The motion passed with a vote of(4) ayes. The votes are as follows. <br /> Troy Warner Aye Sheila Niezgodski Aye <br /> Canneth Lee Aye Rachel Tomas Morgan Aye <br /> The Bill has passed, and the committee moved onto Bill No 60-23. Mr. Willis stated that the <br /> slide being displayed is a salary ordinance for the group violence intervention position. This <br /> role had previously been moved from within the city to Goodwill. The city would like to rehire <br /> for this role. The salary cap for this position would be $65,000 and would be housed in the <br /> Department of Community Initiatives. <br /> Committee Chair Niezgodski thanked Mr. Willis for presenting during this portion of the <br /> meeting and moved to the full council for questions. There was no one from the public <br /> expressing interest to speak during the public hearing portion. <br /> Committee Vice Chair Warner made a motion to send Bill No. 60-23 to the Committee of the <br /> Whole with a favorable recommendation which was seconded by Committee member Tomas <br /> Morgan. The motion passed with a vote of(4) ayes.
