Qtotataftttt *.tport: <br /> Health and Public Safety Committee <br /> tbt Common Qtountfl of tit Qtf tg of Xoutb Istub: <br /> The August 11, 1997 meeting of the Health and Public Safety Committee was called to <br /> order by its Chairperson, Council Member Charlotte Pfeifer at 4:30 p.m. in the Council <br /> informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included Council Members Aranowski, Pfeifer, Kelly, Broden, <br /> Varner, Ujdak, Coleman, Hosinski, Sniadecki; Don Porter, Carl Littrell, Chief Luther <br /> Taylor, Chief Rex Switalski, Amy Olson, Ann-Carol Simons, and Kathleen Cekanski- <br /> Farrand. <br /> Council Member Pfeifer noted that the subject of the meeting was to review Substitute Bill <br /> No. 72-97 which would amend the South Bend Municipal Code addressing charitable, <br /> religious,educational and fraternal organizations. <br /> Ann Carol-Simons, Assistant City Attorney, made the presentation. She noted that the <br /> changes appear on page two with regard to licensing for restaurants and itinerant <br /> restaurants for such charitable organizations. <br /> The Council Attorney, Council President and Council Member Hosinski voiced concern <br /> with regard to the removal of the proposed regulations. The Council Attorney <br /> recommended that all charitable groups should be required to adhere to all Health and <br /> Safety Regulations with only the fee dollar amount being waived. Council President Kelly <br /> spoke in favor of such a revision. <br /> Council Member Hosinski suggested that a substitute bill incorporating the change be <br /> presented. <br /> Following further discussion, Council Member Hosinski made a motion seconded by <br /> Council Member Coleman that the proposed amendment to Bill No.72-97 removing the fee <br /> only and retaining all requirements for charitable organizations with regard to restaurant <br /> licensing be recommended favorably.
