Insurance benefits are basically the same as the currant contract however the payment for the election to leave the City Insurance Program will change from$40.00 per month to$50.00 per month, and Life Insurance will increase from$10,000.00 to $15,000.00. The Council Attorney also that the overall negotiations were very positive and that it was a good team effort by both the FOP Membership as well as the Common Council,City Administration, and Board of Public Safety. Council Member Ladewski noted that although this may have been the shortest negotiations there were at least 40 to 50 hours spent face to face at the Negotiating Table. He believes that the Negotiations ran smoothly part because the Chief Spokesperson for the FOP was Mr. Leo T.Blackwell a former Indianapolis Police Officer who understood and could quickly analyze the problems brought to the table. He noted that he worked well with the Chief City Negotiator,our Council Attorney. Following further discussion, Council Member Kelly,made a motion seconded by Council Member Zakrzewski, that substitute Bill No. 76-94 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. There being no further business to come before the Committee the meeting was adjourned at 5:07 P.M.
