Human Resources and Economic Development Committee June 7, 89 Page 4
Mr. Owsley noted that he had not received this letter and
Mr. Norris would make it available to him again.
Council Members Zakrzewski and Luecke then asked several
questions about the proposed Bill. In response to one of
the questions it was noted that condemnation procedures may
be an alternative if individuals would not be willing to
sell their properties, and that State and Federal laws would
be properly followed.
Council Member Zakrzewski and Council Member Coleman both
noted that the recommendation by the Committee would not be
binding on the full Council and that each Council Member
would have the right to cast his or her vote based on the
merits of the Bill being presented.
Council Member Coleman reiterated that there are "no rubber
stamps" and that he had attended many of the WWCRP meetings
as well as the public hearing of the Redevelopment
Commission. He would be basing his decision on the
information he has heard as well as the information provided
to him by the various public agencies as well as the
concerned citizens.
Following further discussion Council Member Zakrzewski made
a motion seconded by Council Member Voorde that Bill no. 39-
89 and Bill No. 40-89 be recommended without formal
recommendation by the Committee. The motion passed.
There being no further business to come before the committee
the meeting was adjourned at 7: 00 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Council Member Steve Luecke, Chair Person
Human Resources and Economic Development Committee
SL:srk
