Ohtnuntter &port <br /> HUMAN RESOURCES AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE <br /> • <br /> tilt Comm Council of thr Ong of*mill Iirtu� <br /> The July 30 , 1987 meeting of the Human _Resources and <br /> Economic Development Committee was called to order by its <br /> Chairman, Councilman Eugenia Braboy, at 4:30 p.m. in the Council <br /> informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included : Councilmen Braboy, Beck, <br /> Puzzello , Barcome , Voorde and Serge ; Beth Leonard , John Hunt, <br /> Steve Luecke, Betsy Harriman, and members of the news -media. <br /> Councilman Braboy noted that the purpose of the meeting was <br /> to review the 1988 Community Development Block Grant application. <br /> The Committee was presented the 1988 submission schedule as <br /> well as the 1988 CDBG Application Process-Proposal Review (copy <br /> attached). Additionally, the Committee had the information given <br /> to them on July 27 , 1987 at their disposal which consisted of a <br /> letter from Elizabeth Leonard dated July 27, 1987 and attachments <br /> to that letter (copy attached) . <br /> The Committee then reviewed each of the activities within <br /> the CDBG proposal beginning with , the housing activity. <br /> Additional information on the Housing Development Corporation was <br /> requested from Mr. Hunt. There were no recommended changes in <br /> this area . <br /> The Committee then reviewed the code enforcement activity. <br /> It was noted that approximately $20 , 000 in the demolition <br /> category was being used as a "cushion". Councilman Barcome <br /> questioned who carries out demolitions with regard to code <br /> enforcement. Councilman Barcome also questioned why the grass <br /> and yard cleanup is running so late. It was indicated that PIC <br /> began late and that crews are now in process . <br /> The Committee then reviewed public works, parks and capital <br /> improvement activities. It was noted that there were various <br /> public works projects requested and recommended; however, there <br /> were no activities recommended for the parks area. <br /> In the public services area, it was noted that the overall <br /> dollars have remained the same; however, the various levels of <br /> activities within that dollar amount have changed . <br /> • <br /> The next activity reviewed by the Committee was city <br /> development for a projected 1988 request of $2 , 317.500 with the <br /> CAC recommendation of $356,000 and the staff recommendation of <br /> $356,000.
