(llnmmi2irr Erpnri <br /> ZONING AND VACATION COMMITTEE <br /> 0Jn ti?c QJnmmnn OIounril of tip Olitg of floufh rub: <br /> The July 13 , 1987 meeting of the Zoning and Vacation <br /> Committee was called to order by its Chairman, Councilman John <br /> Voorde, at 3:35 p.m. in the Council informal meeting room. <br /> Persons in attendance included: Councilmen Puzzello, Paszek, <br /> Voorde, Beck, Barcome , Braboy, Serge, Zakrzewski , and Taylor ; <br /> Mr. John Schalliol, Mr. Brian Poland, Mr. Pat McGraw, Mr. Gordon <br /> Johnson , Mr. Richard W. Kintzle, members of the news media, and <br /> Kathleen Cekanski-Farrand. <br /> Councilman Voorde noted that there were several items on the <br /> agenda for the Committee to review. <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 56-87 which was a bill <br /> to vacate a forty (40) foot right of way of Lathrop Street. Mr. <br /> John Schalliol , Director of the St. Joseph County Regional Airport <br /> Authority , then gave a short presentation. He noted that the <br /> vacation would allow the development of a first class entry way <br /> for the developing aviation project. He noted that FAA funding <br /> was involved. He further noted that the Airport Authority owned <br /> the property on both sides of Lathrop. <br /> Councilman John Voorde noted that the vacation would involve <br /> approximately two thousand (2,000) feet. He also indicated that <br /> the Board of Public Works recommended the vacation favorably at <br /> their meeting of July 7 , 1987. This was based upon favorable <br /> recommendations from the Engineering Department , Area Plan <br /> Commission and Community Development. <br /> Following further discussion by the Committee , Councilman <br /> Serge made a motion, seconded by Councilman Beck, that Bill No. <br /> 56-87 receive a favorable recommendation. The motion passed . <br /> The Committee then reviewed Bill No. 47-87 which was a bill <br /> amending the zoning ordinance for the property located at the <br /> southeast side of South Bend Avenue near Edison Road. It was <br /> indicated that a substitute version of Bill No. 47-87 was to be <br /> considered. Councilman Beck made a motion, seconded by Councilman <br /> Serge, to accept the substituted version. <br /> Mr . Kevin Butler , attorney on behalf of Mr . Patrick <br /> McGraw/petitioner , noted that the project was for a condominium <br /> development. Originally, one hundred ten (110) units were to be <br /> developed; however, the number of units was reduced to one hundred <br /> two ( 102 ) . The Area Plan Commission gave a favorable <br /> recommendation on the proposed project.
