The South Bend Common Council is humbled to publicly salute and honor a <br />special 71-year old Sister of the Holy Cross, SISTER SUSAN KINTZELE, and hopes that her <br />life’s journey continues to be filled with her addressing social and community challenges in her <br />special caring and compassionate way. <br /> <br />Section IV. Davis, 1801 S. Nash Street, South Bend, Indiana, made the <br />presentation for this Resolution by first offering his comments and then reading the Resolution in <br />its entirety and presenting it to Sister Sue. <br /> <br />A Public Hearing was held on the Resolution at this time. <br /> <br />There was no one present wishing to speak to the Council either in favor of or in opposition to <br />this Resolution. <br /> <br />Councilmember Schey made a motion to adopt this Resolution by acclamation. Councilmember <br />Henry Davis seconded the motion which carried. <br /> <br />Sister Sue thanked the Council for this honor. She thanked her parents and sister for all their <br />love and support. She stated that she is not doing extra-ordinary things, just things that needed to <br />be done. She stated that she believes there is good in everyone, you just need to help them find <br />it. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 4210-12 A RESOLUTION OF THE COMMON COUNCIL <br /> OF THE CITY OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA, <br /> DECLARING THE MONTH OF OCTOBER AS <br /> DIGNITY & RESPECT MONTH <br /> <br /> <br />Whereas, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is a complex organization with <br />over 55,000 <br />employees, who introduced in November 2008, a campaign to promote a broader sense of <br />accountability in order to help unify a shared belief that everyone deserves to be treated with <br />dignity and respect; and <br />Whereas, prior to this campaign, the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s inclusion <br />efforts included one person in charge of diversity training, and posting Martin Luther King Jr. <br />Day posters; and <br />Whereas, the Dignity & Respect Campaign has grown into a national campaign where <br />communities throughout the nation declare the month of October as “Dignity & Respect Month” <br />which is recognized as a time to remind persons to take the Dignity & Respect Pledge and <br />promote the “30 Tips of Dignity & Respect” developed by UPMC where persons work to make <br />4 <br /> <br /> <br />
