The Plan <br /> describes how the City of South Bend intends to remove barriers for disabled persons who enter <br /> or who are in the public right of way. The City is also in the process of assessing its buildings <br /> for ADA accessibility which will be described in a later Transition Plan or in a later Addendum <br /> to the current Plan. <br /> A public hearing on this Transition Plan will take place before the South Bend Board of Public <br /> Works on Tuesday,January 8, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in the Board of Works Public Hearing Room, <br /> 13th Floor, County City Building, South Bend, Indiana. The South Bend Common Council will <br /> then consider adopting the Transition Plan at its regular meeting on January 28, 2013. <br /> Accommodations for hearing- and sight-impaired persons are available upon request at both <br /> meetings. (Please notify of the need for such accommodation at least 24 hours in advance). <br /> Public comments are important to this process. South Bend's ADA Transition Plan for <br /> Pedestrian Facilities in the Public Right of Way can be reviewed easily on the City of South <br /> Bend's website at www.southbendin.gov/ADA. There, you will also find a convenient form for <br /> your direct comments. A copy of the Transition Plan is available for public view in the Office of <br /> the South Bend City Clerk(4th Floor County City Building) or the Department of Public Works <br /> (13th Floor County-City Building). A copy is also available at the South Bend Public Library, <br /> Main Branch, downtown South Bend. Comments may be sent to the City's ADA Coordinator, <br /> Aladean M.
