Zoning and Annexation Committee <br /> November 11, 2002 <br /> Page 2 <br /> ordinance. <br /> Following discussion, Council Member Coleman made a motion, seconded by Dr. Varner that <br /> Substitute Bill No. 23-02 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Council Member Coleman noted that this process has been underway for almost a decade. He <br /> believes that it is a step in the right direction to protect our commercial corridors. <br /> Council Member White thanked all persons involved with the project. <br /> Council Member White then called for a presentation on Bill No. 44-02 which is a rezoning request <br /> for the property located at 115 Indiana Avenue. There was no presenter present. The Council <br /> Attorney noted that she was in the City Clerk's office late last week when the presenter called <br /> requesting a continuance. In light of the City Clerk's Office being closed for Veteran's Day, she <br /> stated that she would check with the office so that the Council could address this bill at the 6:45 <br /> p.m. Informal meeting. <br /> Council Member White then called for a presentation on Bill No. 69-02 which is a rezoning request <br /> for the property located at 2004 East Edison Road. Council Member White noted that the Bill <br /> received a favorably recommendation from the Area Plan Commission(report attached). <br /> Tiberius Mihalache, the petitioner, made the presentation. He stated that he is requesting that the <br /> rezoning be changed from a single-family use to an office use. Council Member White spoke in <br /> favor of the rezoning request. <br /> Following discussion, Dr. Varner made a motion, seconded by Council Member Kuspa that Bill <br /> No. 69-02 be recommended favorably to Council. The motion passed. <br /> Council Member White then called for a presentation on Bill No. 70-02 which is a rezoning request <br /> for the property located at 1018-1020 North Sherman Street. Council Member White noted that the <br /> request received an unfavorably request from the Area Plan Commission. <br /> Gregory Stroupe, the Petitioner, noted that he would like additional time to speak with Ms. <br /> Hansley and other residents in the area. Council Member King stated that a continuance would be <br /> a good idea in light of the concerns raised at the Area Plan Commission meeting. <br /> Council Member Coleman then made a motion, seconded by Dr. Varner that Bill No. 70-02 be <br /> continued until the November 25th meeting.
