, m� �___ _ _� 2012 Annual Report of the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee South Bend Common Council Date: November 28, 2012 To: The South Bend Common Council The Office of the City Clerk From: 5th District Council Member Dr. David Varner, Chairperson Public Works and Property Vacation Committee This Annual Report is filed to fulfill the requirement codified in Section 2-10 (i) of the South Bend Municipal Code. Each year, a report is required to be filed, by the Chairperson of each Standing Committee, with the Office of the City Clerk by the 2nd Monday in December. The report is briefly summarizes the past year's committee activities. Duties: The Public Works and Property Vacation Committee is charged with the following duties pursuant to Section 2-10 (i) (8) of the South Bend Municipal Code: "Overseeing the various activities performed by the Building Department, the Department of Public Works and related public works and property vacation issues" Committee Members: The members of the Committee include: Council Member Gavin Ferlic, Vice-Chair Council Member Valerie Schey Council Member Oliver J. Davis Council Member Dr. David Varner, Chairperson No citizen members served on the Committee this year. Meetings and Topics Reviewed: To date, fifteen (15) meetings have been held. Proposed requests to vacate various public property (portions of streets and alleys) constituted the majority of the proposed ordinances reviewed by the Public Works and Property Vacation Committee. All such actions have been consistent with the governing state law set forth at Indiana Code § 36-7-3- 13 and local regulations.
