•CITY OF SOUTH BEND i OFFICE OF THE CLERK <br />Chuck Bolt Building Commission gave his 2020 year to date presentation along with sharing <br />goals for 2021. <br />Alkeyna Aldridge, Director of Engagement and Economic Empowerment for the City of South <br />Bend with offices on the 14th floor of the County -City Building, South Bend, IN, was the next <br />presenter and gave her presentation for the 2021 budget overview. <br />Pam Meyer, Director of Code Enforcement/Neighborhoods, gave her budget presentation. <br />Tim Corcoran, Director of Planning for the City of South Bend, with offices located on the 14th <br />floor of the County -City Building, South Bend, IN, gave his presentation for the Community and <br />Planning Department 2021 budget. <br />Dan Buckenmeyer, Director of Business Development, gave his budget presentation for 2021. <br />The floor went back to Pam Meyer to present the Code Enforcement budget for 2021. <br />Aaron Perri, Executive Director of South Bend Venues Parks and Arts (VPA), gave his budget <br />presentation for 2021. <br />Committee Chair White opened the floor for questions or comments from the Committee. There <br />were none. Committee Chair moved to open the floor to Councilmembers for questions and <br />comments. <br />Councilmember Sharon L. McBride asked a claryifying question concerning Ms. Alridge Love <br />Your Block program and pivoting to a new program. Couniclmember McBride asked Mr. <br />Patton for an update concerning hiring minority women. Councilmember McBride stated she <br />can be emailed the responses. Councilmember McBride made a statement directed to Mr. Perri, <br />that she is not okay with cutbacks for current staff within the parks department. <br />Councilmember Canneth Lee made a statement directed to the VPA Department. Charles <br />Black Center and Martin Luther King Center are monumental places for our community. <br />Cutting staff from these places should be revisited. <br />Committee Chair White echoed the statements made concerning the recreational <br />centers and cutbacks being made. She stated the importance for clarity on the objectives of these <br />centers and the need for a break down of numbers concerning the programs offered and people <br />attending. She made the statement that a VPA meeting is needed to further discuss these <br />concerns. <br />Committee Chair White opened the floor to the public for questions and comments at this time. <br />Jorden Giger, 302 S. Falcon St., South Bend, IN. He proceeds with questions directed to Aaron <br />Perri, Pam Meyer, and Tom Cocoran. His questions were heard, and each department will <br />respond at a later date. <br />Jacques Black, 118 Villageway, South Bend, IN. She proceeded to ask questions directed to <br />diversity and inclusion concerns with minorities being hired in our community.
