Support for demolition
• Testimony and photographic documentation of structural timbers of the barn after dismantling
from former owner, Tim Sokol (who will be present at the meeting).
• I am awaiting testimony from a structural engineer. I hope to have the info prior to your
application submission deadline. If not, I would like to request allowance to either bring a
report to the meeting or have him as a guest that night.
• Conversation with property neighbors Dale and Pam Weaver (12336 Rocky Ridge Tr,Granger
IN 46530) — neighbor states that as soon as the barn was removed, their outbuilding was
infested with carpenter ants and was destroyed within a year.
• HPC inspection record (I don't have copies) indicates concern for the foundation as well.
Dispute with HPC records
• The report indicates that the barn was dismantled in a manner to allow it to be reassembled.
The process of dismantling the barn was in fact NOT in a manner suitable for reassembling as
evidenced in actual HPC file photos.
Support for the stewardship of barn removal materials
• Repurposing barn wood on site: some of the barn wood has been repurposed to build an
Amish -style dining table in the grand dining room of the main home, and a mantle in over the
fireplace of the outbuilding called the summer kitchen
• Repurposing boulders on site: the pile of rock boulders have been reassembled in a manner
similar to the barn's original foundation, in order to form a retaining wall for the green space
that now exists where the barn had been
• Garage barn restoration: it is presumed that part of the conditions for CoA would be to restore
the garage barn in the style of the original structure. This has been completed in like manner.
