-.1
The SolSmart Technical Advisor has drafted a resolution that would provide
supplemental guidance and recommendations to applicants wishing to obtain a COA for
a solar energy systems. In addition, a reference document is provided in Dropbox which
contains design principles, example guidance from other communities, and example
decision cases compiled from National Trust for Historic Preservation and National
Parks Service documents.
Last year, the Common Council of the City of South Bend issued a resolution in support
of a reasonable transition to cleaner sources of energy. This year, South Bend is
participating in the SolSmart program to receive free technical assistance to become
designated as a "solar- friendly" community. As part of that effort, South Bend is working
to reduce barriers to solar development by increasing transparency and providing clear
guidance related to local processes.
Leah Thill, MSES /MPA
SolSmart Technical Advisor
Sustainability and Solar Energy Consultant
[o] (574) 287 -1829 ext. 801 1 [m] (812) 653 -9730
Ithili @solsmart.ora
