There is a steeply pitched hip roof with a gable on the front fagade, and gable projection on the east side. The front <br />porch is one story with a hipped roof, concrete steps and deck, and round wood support posts. Windows are 1/1 wood double - <br />hung with aluminum storms. There are two oval windows, one in front and one on the west side. <br />ALTERATIONS: Synthetic siding has been added. The front door is a wood replacement with aluminum storm exterior and <br />decorative shutters. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Restoration of front windows, replacement of six windows found irreparable and additional 3 to have <br />consistency, replacing front & back doors to code of 36 -inch width. <br />DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: <br />Owner proposes to restore both oval windows, as well as 1/1 wood double hung windows in front of house. Remaining windows <br />on sides and back of house to be replaced with Edison double -hung vinyl windows, size and style to match existing. Non - <br />original front and back doors to be replaced with steel doors. Front door will feature decorative 3 /< oval lite design; back door <br />will have 6 -lite glass at top. <br />PRESERVATION SPECIALIST REPORT: <br />At approximately I IAM on February 17, 2017, I arrived at the property located at 224 Hammond Ct with Director Feasel to <br />evaluate the condition of the windows of this structure which is located in the River Bend Local Historic District. We met with <br />the owners' representative and their contractor. <br />The owner intends to repair the oval windows, but is applying to replace as many of the windows as allowed. The existing <br />windows consist of one over one double hung wood windows, and two fixed wood oval windows. I photographed each window <br />of the structure and found six (6) windows to be deteriorated beyond repair. The structure has triple track aluminum storm <br />windows but many of the sashes are missing or broken which has allowed the elements to enter and moisture to slowly <br />deteriorate sashes and sills. There has been some severe settling to the house as a whole which has resulted in buckling of some <br />of the floors. Two of the windows are out of square and although not deteriorated, will more than likely require some additional <br />5 <br />
