South Bend and St. Joseph County
HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
227 WEST JEFFERSON BLVD
SOUTH BEND, IN 46601 -1830
www.stjosephcountyindiana.com/sjchp/index.html
Phone: 574-235-9798 Fax: 574-235-9578
e -mail: SBSJCBPC@co.st-joseph.in.us
Timothy S. Klusczinski, President
Tim Sikos
50601 Bittersweet Trail
Granger, IN 46530
4 February 2015
Dear Mr. Sikos,
A Certified Local Government Catherine D. Hostetler, Director
It was a pleasure to meet with you on December 16, 2014 at your historic home in Granger. Thank you again for the hospi-
tality and the tour. It is easy to see how much appreciation you have for the house and how much time and energy you have put into
it. We had discussed the condition of the original barn and your intentions to be able to someday construct a new structure with
some of the reclaimed material. I just wanted to say how glad I was to hear that.
We still have to address the fact that the barn was brought down without an approved Certificate of Appropriateness appli-
cation. We really need that to go in front of the Commission. The fact that the barn has already been brought down, (necessary or
not) still leaves us without the proper procedures and documentation. Although you have convinced me with your descriptions and
the site photographs I personally took, you will still need to apply for the application and have it reviewed. The application is a sim-
ple one and needs to be sent with the $20 application fee. I will attach a hard copy with this letter. Additional copies may be down-
loaded and printed from the Saint Joseph County Website/ departments / historic preservation and then COA Application. In order to
— t this unto the agenda for the meeting, we need to receive the application by the first Monday of each month. The meeting for the
te nth then takes place on the third Monday at 7:30 at the County -City Building, 227 W Jefferson, South Bend, IN.
I know this seems rather trivial considering the barn is down, but in order to complete the procedure and to make our com-
mission aware of your intentions, this needs to happen.
Thank you for your time and understanding,
Steve Szaday
Preservation Specialist
Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend & St Joseph County
(574) 235 -9798 office
COMMISSIONERS
Thomas Gordon (Vice President)
Mike Voll (Treasurer)
(Architectural Historian)
Elizabeth Hertel (Secretary)
Kevin Buccellato
Brandon Anderson
STAFF
Elicia D.
