1_ _Addition of new driveway and .front walkway. <br />We would like to add a driveway and a walkway from the proposed driveway to <br />the front steps/door. The proposed driveway would be located on our property between <br />us and 1067 Riverside Drive. We have already gained approval from the owner of 1067 <br />Riverside Drive. The proposed driveway / walkway would be compatible with the <br />character of the neighborhood in size, scale and material. This driveway would be <br />appropriate to existing surrounding site elements in scale, type and appearance. It will <br />be similar to other driveways in the district. We are open to use any materials that the <br />approval committee would recommend or deem most appropriate. We have included a <br />site plan and photos for review. <br />Reasons for driveway and walkway addition. 1.) Currently, there are unsightly <br />ruts in the yard where the proposed driveway would be located. Apparently, large trucks <br />had to drive over this area in the winter to remove a large tree that had fallen on 1067 <br />Riverside Drive. 2.) We need more parking spaces as our older children are starting to <br />drive, right now we only have room for 2 vehicles to park in front of the house on the <br />street. 3.) We have physically disabled parents who have a very difficult time walking <br />up the stairs to our house. A driveway and walkway would shorten the distance they <br />would have to walk and eliminate a set of stairs allowing them to visit more often. <br />2. Addition of black iron railings on both sides of stairs going up to the house. There is <br />a set of 3 stairs in the front yard and a set of 4 stairs leading to the front porch. <br />3. Tree removal <br />There is a °large walnul'tree Thal we would Tike to completely remove. Most oUt <br />hangs directly over 1067 Riverside Drive. We are extremely concerned about the <br />overhang of this tree, it has the potential to cause serious damage to our house and our <br />neighbor's house. The debris from this tree sits on our roofs and clogs our gutters.
