HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
PRESERVATION SPECIALIST REPORT
November 16, 2015
Hello Commission!
Lots of roof repairs, tree trimming, and last minute painting! Lovely time to spruce things
up. There are not a lot of things going on outside of completing existing approved
prof ects.
Follow-up items:
803 Park Ave-Mr.Shefbuch will be completing the work next spring as funds will not be
available to purchase the agreed upon spindles and railings until then.
824 Park Ave-Homeworks removed three small areas of aluminum siding to view the
condition of the wood clap board underneath. The areas did indeed have material that
would need replacement rather than repair. Unfortunately, the areas are so small and
remotely located it is difficult to make a clear decision on the condition of the remaining
original siding. We have requested additional removal of the aluminum siding in order to
make a more definite determination.
The new shelving is 80% up and filled in the storage room. I have one more section to
add as I was waiting for the removal of Conservatory items, Indiana Landmark Display
models, and other non essentials. I also have about 50 sashes that will be joining the
collection from my personal storage by way of donation.
I have given several private walking and bus tours in the past 30 days. These are great
little sources of advertising, public outreach, and small monetary compensation.
I have also been working with the Bicentennial Committee and I believe I am the co-
chair or Chairman of the Food portion of the Torch Relay party at Bendix Woods on
October 9th 2016.
Trees:
Legal Committee should meet about the language regarding RMEs for trees prior to 2016
tree season starts
This Saturday, November 20th I will be instructing a windows workshop with Paul
Hayden for Indiana Landmark's Vintage Green project.
Thank you,
Steve Szaday
Preservation Specialist
