Director Report <br />October, 2011 <br />20 September Attended Rotary Board Meeting; alerted them to the Marquette <br />School National Register Nomination and possible backlash from School Corporation. <br />Prepared approved COAs and mailed out to homeowners/contractors. Contacted Phil St. <br />Claire about the insurance issues surrounding the arson at Friendship Station located in <br />Belleville Park. Notified Code and Derek Dieter that there were squatters on the east <br />porch of local landmark Former First Presbyterian Church aka Ambassadors for Christ on <br />the corner of Washington and Lafayette. <br />21 September Meeting with Todd Zeiger about acting as agent for the grant he <br />was proposing for 803 W. Washington, the Kizer House, that HPC has the fagade <br />easement. <br />22 September Meeting with Randy Ray, Director of the Northern Indiana Center <br />for History and Father George Konstantopoulos at St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church; <br />introduction and possible program/exhibit at NICH on the Greeks of Michiana. <br />23 September Vacation Day <br />26 September Vacation Day <br />27 September Meeting with Neal Vogel from Restoric of Chicago at the State <br />Theatre to tour the theatre as a possible candidate for his interior design class. Tamara <br />Nichol -Smith from DTSB plus the Staff was also there. Gave a presentation and <br />conducted a tour of Downtown South Bend for Gil Cardenas' Visual Sociology class <br />which emphasized the changes in the urban environment after WWII and included <br />changing demographics, urban renewal, white flight and the "malling" of America. <br />28 September Attended the dedication of the new Marquette Montessori <br />Academy. Meeting at IVYTech for Rotary Scholarship in trades. Discussion with Greg <br />Kil about proposed lighting in the Conservatories. <br />29 September General Office work and research on Marquette School. Posted <br />notices for 3 October Executive Session and 4 October Special Meeting. <br />30 September General Office Work. Turned in Fees for COAs and Survey <br />Books. Meeting with Pete Buttigieg, Democrat Mayoral Candidate; presented him with <br />copies of our brochures, the City and County surveys and the volume of work performed <br />in the City in 2010. Mayor Steve also received this information several months ago to <br />give to Pete; but Pete reacted like had not received it yet. Strategy session with Tim <br />Klusczinski. <br />3 October Spoke with Mark Peterson of WNDU and Kim Kilbride of the <br />South Bend Tribune about the National Register Nomination for Marquette on the School <br />Board's Agenda that evening. Issued RME-COA for in-kind flat roof replacement for 117 <br />
