Califano 633 N. Lafayette Project — Rebuild garage and deck Written Description - A tree fell down onto the garage, house and deck. The garage and deck were totally destroyed and needs to be rebuilt. • Dimensions/Alterations (Garage) - The old garage was 8'x 16; which is not big enough for cars built today. We would like to increase the size of the car to accommodate a mid-size car. The new dimensions would be 13'x 18'. The Setback on the South side (side) of the house is 4. To make the garage wider, we would not go beyond this, and the setback for the garage would be 5'. The setback on the West side (rear) of the house was 53' from the back of the garage. The setback for the new garage would be 51'. These were verified with Mark at the St. Joseph County Building Department, who told me I could go up to the current setback of 4' on the side of the house, and the rear setback would have to be at least 25. • Dimensions/Alterations (Deck) — The old deck was 9'x 14'. The new deck would be 11' x 14'. • Construction Methods (Garage) — Wood frame construction, new concrete pad, gable roof, asphalt architectural shingles • Construction Methods (Deck) — Wood frame construction, ultra composite decking material • Other — House currently has cedar shake siding. We will remove the current siding from garage and use it to repair areas on the house that need it. We will also remove current aluminum siding from a porch that was added on and use the old cedar siding from the garage to match the rest of the house.
