STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval. <br />President Klusczsinski called for COA #2009 -0403 to be amended to correct a typographical <br />error. On a motion by Linda Riley with a second by David Sassano the Staff reported was <br />corrected to reflect a 6 foot fence. The motion passed unanimously. On a motion by Linda Riley <br />with a second by David Sassano the Commission voted unanimously to approve COA #2009- <br />0403 as amended. <br />STAFF REPORT <br />CONCERNING APPLICATION FOR A <br />CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS <br />Date: April 6, 2009 <br />Application Number: 2009 -0406A <br />Property Location: 809 Forest <br />Architectural Style/Date /Architect or Builder: American Foursquare /1890 <br />- Property- Owner: Elaine -and -Bobby-Meyer-Lec <br />Landmark or District Designation: Chapin Park LHD <br />Rating: Contributing <br />DESCRIPTION OF STRUCTURE/ SITE: The home is a two storey with an irregular <br />floor plan set upon a brick foundation. The roof is hipped with side gables and cornice <br />returns and covered with asphalt shingles. The chimney is slightly offset with corbelled <br />brick. The exterior walls are 4 1/2" wood clapboard with frieze and moulded cornice and <br />corner boards there is a full width front porch with four slender turned spindle columns, a <br />concrete floor and moulded cornice. The windows are 1/1 double hung with moulded <br />entablatures. <br />ALTERATIONS: The rear porch was enclosed and a one storey addition built onto the <br />rear of the house. A bay window was added to the west side of the house. The barn noted <br />in the 1987 survey card has burned. There are aluminum storm windows and a new roof. <br />The original wooden porch has been replaced by concrete. <br />APPLICATION ITEMS: Build an approximately 283 square feet second storey <br />addition for a master bedroom and closet above an existing one - storey addition on the <br />rear of the house to match exterior appearance, per attached drawings. New addition was <br />designed to make house fit its historical period better, given previous addition. See <br />Drawings 1 -5 <br />DISCRIPTION OF PROPOSED PROJECT: The homeowners wish to add a rear, <br />gabled second storey on top of a non - original first storey addition to create more interior <br />space to accommodate a master bedroom and bathroom. The exterior of the addition will <br />be finished with wood siding and trims to match the original house along with gutters and <br />downspouts and aluminum fascia.
