M ENDANGERED SPECIES The proposed project is within the range of the Federally endangered Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) and the threatened bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus). However, there is no suitable habitat for either of these endangered and threatened species within the project area. This precludes the need for further consultation on this project as required under Section 7 of the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. If, however, new information on endangered species at the site becomes available or if project plans are changed significantly, please contact our office for further consultation. The FWS supports the use of Alternate No. 1 for this project. Although the environmental"impact on fish and wildlife resources would be the same for either alternative, we believe that social and cultural resources are also present here because this is an urban park utilized by many people. Scattered piles of riprap rather than the historic wall would intrude upon the overall outdoor experiences of visitors to the park. Thank you for the opportunity to review this project proposal.
