SOUTH BEND & SAINT JOSEPH COUNTY
HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
235-9798
MEMORANDUM
Wednesday, September 10, 2003
TO: Scott Osthimer, Sales manager
Rink Printing
Copy to HPC Members ( .
FROM: Karen R. Hammond -Nash
Director
RE: Liaison Nomination inserts for Newsletters
This is a follow up to our earlier conversations regarding (a) the total number of
newsletters we will need, (b) the number of Nomination forms and (c) the number of either return
postcards or reply envelopes needed for our newsletters.
The total number of newsletters we will need will now be 900, 765 for the owners of
homes in local historic districts and local landmarks, and the rest for HPC members, other
government officials, our records and other public distribution,
We have eight different historic districts, with a total of 452 residences in them. We will
want a few extra nomination forms, both for our records, and in case some are lost in the mail and
duplicates are needed. Our order will be as follows:
1.
East Wayne Street (14 homes):
150 forms
2.
Edgewater Place (83 homes/buildings)
90 forms
3.
Lincolnway East (33 homes)
40 forms
4.
North St. Joseph Street (10 homes)
15 forms
5.
River Bend (45 homes)
50 forms
6.
Riverside Drive (69 homes)
80 forms
7.
Taylor's Field (52 homes)
60 forms
8.
West North Shore Drive (16 homes)
20 forms
TOTAL FORMS:
505
I appreciate the suggestion that you and Chris made regarding the use of post cards, rather
than separate reply sheets and envelopes, as likely to save considerable expense both in printing,
and in postage. I like the idea, and think that it would work well and look good.
However, the use of post cards instead of sealed envelopes would be a complete departure
from the way in which the Historic Districts Committee has operated in the past, so I will consult
the wishes of the HPC on Monday, and on Tuesday morning I will let you know their wishes
regarding envelopes versus post cards.
When we were figuring 700 newsletters and reply envelopes, we figured the price at
$1,267. Can you get me an estimate of the adjusted amount, with the above changes? Thanks!
