WAYNE DOOLITTLE: Presented a report of the two-day (18 -hour) training he received
from the US Heritage Group in Chicago.
JOHN OXIAN: Suggested that Wayne Doolittle put together a brief information packet
about masonry training for commission members to look over.
JOHN OXIAN: So far the Historic Districts Committee is involved with the Park
Avenue area and Olive Road and also what I have assigned here. Martha, do you have
anything more to report on this?
MARTHA CHOITZ: No, I haven't heard anything from either one.
JOHN OXIAN: We had a meeting with the Leeper Park Beautification Committee.
Gary Gilot was there with Carl Littrell so we were able to obtain up-to-date information
regarding the erosion control issue and their plans on how to stop the erosion from
continuing.
We also talked about the following issues regarding Leeper Park:
1. The gates going into the North Pumping Station.
2. The street lights that are to be installed in the park.
3. The fountain in the central core area.
We also talked about Bartlett Street and how it would be taking a part of Madison
School away. They showed us plans on how they think Bartlett Street should be
relocated.
There was also a disagreement between certain individuals who felt St. Joseph Street
should be closer to what Memorial wanted and what individuals who were living on St.
Joseph Street felt. Mr. Foti was also saying he would like to make his buildings more
compatible with the neighborhood and how they were going to construct this one
thousand car parking garage to fit in with St. Joseph Street. I suggested that they make
the side of that building look like the North Pumping Station. Everyone was in
agreement with that idea.
We are having another meeting in January, which I think will be the last meeting and
the final recommendations will be made at that time. So, if any of you have any other
changes that you would like to have done, then I suggest that you Jook over Memorial
Hospital's plans because changes are being made with the plans.
KAREN HAMMOND-NASH: I also am assuming the Commission will authorize me to
encumber any funds for contractual services, data processing, and printing that we don't
manage to get invoices for this year.
The other matter that John Oxian and Lynn Patrick have both talked to me about is
getting a duplexer so we can copy off two sides of a page and save on paper. I tried to
order the duplexer before the November 14`h deadline, but couldn't get an invoice. The
price of the duplexer is quoted at $1200.00.
I will ask the purchasing department if they have a used one and if not then I will
purchase a new one.
