We have
too many trees just crowding everything out and we need to have several
removed. The lawn was wrecked with the construction dumpster so we figure now's
the
time to get the tree cutters in there before we repair the lawn.
All the trees we want removed were planted or grew during my lifetime. I
remember my father letting them grow just to see what would "take." Dad and I
planted the big 17" Norway Maple in the back as seedling on Arbor Day in 1972.
It was a poor location, too close to the Garage and the utility wires along
the alley. Its roots are heaving the landscaping timbers. I'm sorry to have to
remove it, but its just a bad fit.
The big Mulberry is just a messy tree that drops branches whenever there's a
storm, and the berries are sloppy all summer long. The neighbors can't wait
for us to get rid of it. It really leans over their fence.
The roots from the Sugar Maple next to the driveway has heaved the bricks, an
d its trunk pinches our vehicular maneuverability to the Garage. It too is
entwined in the telephone and electric wires to the House. Same for the two
Pines. They were former potted Christmas trees that Dad put out in the yard. I
guess we weren't too thoughtful of our placements.
Most of the others are stunted specimens that never grew well.
Its time "to thin the herd." And the sun returning will help all the
remaining landscaping very much.
http: // webmail .michiana.org /index.php3? &twig_ session= a %3A8 %3A %7Bs %3A7 %3A %22... 7/14/03
