Hammond -Nash, Director
April 16, 2003
Re: The German Township and Warren Township area
Dear Neighbor:
It has been brought to my attention by residents in our district that we may have Indian or settler
burial grounds in our area. In order to pursue an examination by an archeologist, we would be
greatly helped by a brief letter from each of you who are interested, stating your interest in the
history of our area, and your wish that the responsible state office would pursue the examination
of the property suspected.
You may send your request to the following individuals:
Ms. Jennie Regan- Dinius, Coordinator
Indiana Cemetery Registration Project
Dr. J. Richard Jones, State Archeologist
Indiana Office of Historic Preservation & Archeology, DNR
Suite West — 274
602 West Washington Street
Indianapolis, IN 46204 -2739
If it is more convenient, you may drop your letter off in my mailbox, and I will mail all of them
together. It is important that you respond as soon as you can, because we want the researchers to
put us on the schedule for this summer.
Thank you very much for your interest in preserving these historic and cultural resources while Al
there is yet time.
Very Sincerely Yours,
Diane Wrobel -Illes
COMMISSIONERS
Mary Jane Chase Virginia O'Hair (Secretary) Gerald Ujdak (Vice President)
Martha Choitz Lynn A.
