house. The owner will salvage the asbestos shingles from the addition to use as fillers. <br />The interior door is also in need of replacement. The owner would like to replace it with <br />a metal exterior door with raised panels. In place of the addition, Mr. Nowak is <br />requesting to construct a small 6' x 6' wood deck. The deck would abut the house but <br />not connect to it. It would have standard members and rail. The staff recommends <br />approval of the removal of the addition, the infill of salvaged siding, installation of a <br />raised metal door and the construction of a small rear deck. The applicant is also <br />requesting to enclose the backyard with a fence. The fence would be 6' tall and run from <br />the rear line of the house around the backyard. The fence would consist of four feet <br />stockade style wood fencing with 2 feet of wood lattice on top. Staff recommends <br />approval of the fence with the stipulation that shrubs or a tree be planted in front of the <br />fence on the north side of the house to buffer its visual impact from the street. <br />2 <br />
