CERTIFICATE OF APPROPRIATENESS STAFF REPORT
STANDARDS
Group B -Building Site and Landscaping
1. Required
Major landscaping items, trees, fencing, sidewalks, private yard lights -which reflect the
property's history and development shall be retained. Dominant land contours shall be
retained.
3. Prohibited
No changes may be made to the appearance of the site by removing major landscaping items,
trees, fencing, walkways.. and other elements before evaluating their importance to the
property's history and development.
RECOMMENDATION
The applicant is proposing to install a new parking area for handicap access to the tennis center.
Currently all the parking for the center is located in the street, which does not allow for easy
ADA access to the public facility. By adding this parking area it would make the facility
handicap accessible and causes no detrimental affect to the park. The proposed location of the
lot will not remove any trees or any other landscape features of the park. As the Commission is
aware, work on this project has already begun, the area has been partially excavated and the
sidewalk has been poured. The staff finds the installation of three ADA handicap parking
spaces, a concrete sidewalk and asphalt drive to be in compliance with the guidelines and
recommends approval.
