IDDI Work Program <br />Historic Districts Committee <br />May 20, 1996 <br />To: Members <br />Historic Preservation Commission of South Bend & St. Joseph County <br />From: Historic Districts Committee <br />Re: 3 year plan of projects <br />Proposed historic Districts (all boundaries are to be determined) <br />YEAR 1 - priority ranked from 1 - 5 where 1 - highest <br />1 Monroe Park Neighborhood (St. Joseph Street) <br />2 Lincoln Way West <br />3 South Michigan Street (terra cotta mini -district) <br />4 Portage Avenue Neighborhood <br />5 Near Northwest or Kankakee Race Neighborhood <br />YEAR 2 & 3 - priority ranked from 1 - 5 where 1 = highest <br />1 Erskine Boulevard <br />2 North Shore Triangle <br />3 Walnut Grove <br />• Preservation Standards/Guidelines <br />Work with Standards & Maintenance Committee to update the existing <br />standards for each district. <br />• Liaison Committees <br />Work towards resurrecting these groups in each district. <br />• Newsletter <br />If funding for the cost of postage can be raised, a quarterly or bi-annual <br />newsletter will be sent out to each property owner within all historic districts <br />and landmarks. Still to be determined is producing the newsletter and specific <br />content. <br />• Uniformity and Consistency <br />The procedures for designating historic districts will be updated and revised; <br />handouts, including fliers and brochures, will be evaluated so that in the future <br />all materials produced by the Commission are consistent in appearance, dated, <br />and professional in appearance. <br />• Additional <br />Suggestion for a rural historic district <br />Continue work on National Register nominations for historic districts <br />,Vf/OS/2O/963,27PM <br />
