Remove corrugated metal siding on matching
shed and re -side with contemporary counterpart_
Mr. Pastor summarized the staff recommendations
for parts f, g and h. They were as follows:
--substitute a different model of entry door for
the garage. The owner proposed to install a metal
door with simulated criss-cross stickwork; the
committee recommended on with simulated wood panel
detailing.
--restoration and re -use of the gabled
outbuilding, which dated from c. 1940 and was in
fair condition. Should demolition be allowed, Mr.
Kahle should be required to document the structure
with photographs, measured drawings, or other
descriptive methods (Group B standards, part D).
--unqualified approval of part h.
Mr. Herendeen asked Mr. Kahle about the gabled
outbuilding's condition. Mr. Kahle said it was
badly deteriorated, "an eyesore." Mrs. Sporleder
asked._what__ty_P_e__of internal structure the
outbuilding had. Mr. Holycross said -it
balloon frame, set on an older hand-hewn
foundation.
Mr. Herendeen said that, because the outbuilding
was deteriorated, and not particularly old, the
committee had decided to permit its demolition.
It should, however, be formally documented for the
benefit of future owners, who might wish to
replace it.
Mrs. Dennen questioned Mr. Kahle and ascertained
that the outbuilding lay about 20 ' from the main
building.
Mr. Herendeen moved to accept the committee report
on the last three parts of the proposal. Mrs.
Sporleder seconded the motion. Mr. Oxian
abstained. Motion approved.
Mr. Oxian directed Mr. Kahle to consult Mr.
Holycross regarding the approved parts of the
proposal.
