Wayne North
South Bend, IN 46615
PROPOSAL,
Replace existing metal shed in north -east corner of the property
with either of two prefabricated 8X10, wood composition, gambrel- -
roofed sheds as per attached specifications. The new shed will
be identically situated as the current shed on an existing
concrete slab.
STANDARDS
III. C. Accessory Buildings
1) Required
Accessory buildings shall be located at the rear of
residences and as unobtrusively as possible while
preserving the historical relationships between the
building, landscape features, and open spaces.
Proportions and materials shall conform to those
required for New Construction (see A -1 and B -1).
2) Recommended
Accessory building designs should be compatible in
character and mood to the residences and neighborhood.
3) Proh_i_bited
Pre- fabricated, metal sheds may not be used.
4) Not Recommended
Pre - fabricated wood composition sheds should not be
used unless they conform to all other standards.
RECOMMENDATIONS_
The existing metal shed is in deteriorated condition and has no
historical or architectural significance. As installation of
metal sheds is prohibited by the district standards, the removal
of this unit is favorable. The owner of the property has
proposed two replacement units which are relatively compatible to
the fabric of the East Wayne historic district. Although they
are pre - fabricated wood composition sheds, which the district
standards suggest should not be used, the proposed units appear
to conform to all other standards.
